EKUNDAYO MOGAJI
The news of Pastor Isaac Ekundayo Mogaji’s departure to the great beyond came as a rude shock to us, and none of your classmates who received the sad news could come to terms with your death. But who are we to query the Almighty God, the giver of life, the Lord who killeth and maketh alive (1 Samuel 2:6). Tolu's death has left an indelible mark on our hearts because of his good character and positive contributions within our association. We echo the words, "O Death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?" (1 Corinthians 15:55) over our beloved Tolu.
We can go on and on about our pains and grief, but can this bring back our colleague? No, not at all. However, we are assured that he is resting in the bosom of the Lord, and his good works on earth will speak for him in heaven. Good night, dear friend.
Tolu was a committed alumnus of Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure. He was the first and only Chairman of our set (1974/79) until he departed this sinful world. A good leader to the core with enviable records, he led the Association to the 40th anniversary of our set’s reunion at our great Alma Mater with numerous achievements. He was a man with a big heart who believed no task was unachievable with determination and the help of God. He was a generous giver and one of the first to contribute to all the programs of our set. It’s no wonder he was a Pastor with Christ Apostolic Church GB Headquarters, London.
Tolu was one of the youngest and brightest members of our Association with an uncommon zeal for excellence. He was a Chartered Accountant, admitted as an Associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1991, and became a Fellow of the Institute ten years later. He was also a member of the Red Cross Society and served as a school prefect in our set.
Tolu, if it were within our power to halt death, we would have done so for you. Farewell, dear friend. May your pure soul rest in eternal peace.
